A vicious circle, McJournalism. An article I read states that an overwhelming majority of the public (87%) says celebrity scandals receive too much news coverage. This criticism generally holds across most major demographic and political groups. Virtually no one thinks there is too little coverage of celebrity scandals, according to new national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press.
So who buys the crap tabloids? Who is watching shock TV? Who cares if Ms. Cyrus posed without clothes? Or if Amy Winehouse has lost her ever lovin’ mind? We do, that 87% who say celebrity scandal gets too much coverage.
Why? Why do we pay such close attention to the star’s eccentricities and stupid antics? Why would we want to perpetuate Billy Ray prostituting his daughter for the whole world to see? Why do we care if Brittany shaves her head or is wearing underwear?
All I can say is Thank God I don’t live in a fish bowl with a camera up my ass every time I flick my tail!

McJournalism. Love the term. And you are so correct, too! I think it may be so popular for a couple of reasons. Everyone loves a good scandal, and the ‘real’ news tends to have a definite slant. PAY NO ATTENTION TO THAT MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN! He’s just telling the broadcasters what they can and cannot say.
