Seems as if we’ve finally opened our eyes and realized this country is in a world of hurt. Even Warren Buffet, the world’s most famous investor says we’re in a Recession. Wonder how long it’ll take before we realize that we’re sliding towards a Depression, the likes we haven’t seen in 70 years. Most of us won’t remember that period, but my Grandmother does. She’s been hording toilet paper every since. She even does it in the nursing home.
We joke about that in our family, but Grandma knew how to stretch a dollar. She made things last, she fixed things, she built things herself, she sewed and gardened, and canned and made things from scratch. Remember that term? Made from scratch? How longs it been since you made something from scratch?
I’ve always admire my Grandma her spunk and I’m praying now it’s one of the things she’s passed on to me, because I think I’m going to need it. Due to the narrow job market in my field, the price of gas, my mental health, and the economy I’m opening the ‘Lily Pad Day Care’ in my home! I’m sure this little venture will give me all kinds of new material to Blog about!
But seriously folks, I’m looking forward to it. There is something about small children that makes me happy! Having grandbabies I have the perfect set up and all of the equipment I need to start. Well, I’m going to have to hit some yard sales for a few girls’ toys, but you get the idea. My yard has lots of room to run, a sand box, and swings and my house is fairly large, with a spare room to devote to a toy room, ample space for a crib and play pen in my room, and a large room in the basement for rainy day activities. I can seat 10 in my kitchen and thanks to Grandma I can cook for kid’s on a dime. And like my grandma, I’m happiest at home clucking over my chicks.
I can like what I’m doing, stay home to do it, and make money at it. Now all I need is the motivation to get this place whipped into shape! I think I jokingly referred too a yard sale in a previous post of mine On My Front Porch , but it is the first step! Donnie took his brother’s patio furniture to his mothers last night so I can start to clean and organize and price things. Of course before I can do that I’m going to have to clean out the door way to the basement so I can haul stuff down there. And we need to bag up some junk tonight for the trash tomorrow. I got a start on that yesterday. And air it out and then Donnie is going to have to run the humidifier day and night, and I’m going to have to burn candles because I don’t want anything to smell moldy or musty. Ahhh what a PITA, maybe I should rethink this….
No, we need income and I need stability and something to do. Besides, I’ll feel so much better when it’s done! ‘Stuff’ is starting to suffocate me. There are baskets and boxes of ‘stuff’ everywhere. Wicker basket, clothes baskets, big boxes, little boxes, totes, and bags of stuff! But I’ve rambled on about ‘stuff’ enough, so I think I’d better leave ‘stuff’ for another day.

Better you than me. Kids don’t like me and vice versa lol.
Good luck!
Lol MJ! I would love to be a grade school teacher and that is what I wanted to go to college for but it didn’t pan out.
May The Force be with you. Or vodka. Vodka could be with you, too. :0P
